Our History

Founded in Faith, Growing in Community

In 1969, David and Bobbie Shearer felt a clear calling from God to begin a new church in Tamworth. Acting in obedience, they started meeting with a small group of fellow believers in their home. With God's blessing and guidance, the church began to grow, prompting a move to Coton Green School to accommodate more people. As the congregation continued to expand, it became clear that a permanent place of worship was needed. Through prayer and generous giving, a plot of land on the border of Tamworth and Lichfield was purchased in 1984. After years of faithful planning and dedication, the Coton Centre was completed and officially opened its doors in 1992. In 2022, Bishop Dave Carr joined the leadership team to support the church’s growth and development.

Since then, the church has embraced new opportunities to minister across Tamworth and Lichfield, pursuing a renewed vision to reach and serve the wider community for Christ. We continue to welcome new visitors each week, many of whom are choosing to make our church their spiritual home. The Coton Centre, set within a beautiful and spacious campus, offers great potential for further expansion. The church is proud to be part of the Evangelical Alliance and Tamworth Churches Together (TCC).
