Questions to ponder

Some questions to ponder following our first teaching session on 'Rooted to Thrive'. If you missed the service, you can watch it here now or you can preview the notes from the teaching on this blog.

READ Colossians 2:1-10

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart, and united in love.’

How do you feel encouraged in heart at this time?

What encourages you from this passage and from the above service/teaching?

Share this with others via your group or on the telephone with someone else.

How much do you feel that you ‘know the mystery of God, namely Christ’?

What is the most precious thing you know of him today? What would you want to share with someone else of this? What ‘treasures of wisdom and knowledge’ are you most stirred with at the moment?

Paul writes in v4 & v8 ‘I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments’…. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition, and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.’

Have you ever had doubts about your faith in Jesus as a result of what others have said or done? Do you know others who are struggling at this time?

Take time to pray for others, and if you are struggling yourself, share with someone else and have them minister to you in prayer. (If you are praying and ministering to someone else, be open to prophetic words or scriptures the Holy Spirit may give you to encourage, to strengthen, to comfort and to build up.)

V6,7 ‘So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.’

Think back to when you gave your life to Christ and became a Christian, receiving him as Lord of your life. How does your walk with him now compare with then? What can you thank him for? Do you need to put down deeper roots at this time and draw deep from Jesus? Take time to pour out your heart in thanksgiving to God and to go deeper with Jesus.
