Questions to consider
Questions to consider from the teaching session Rooted to Thrive (2)
In our final blessing from Ephesians 3:16-21, Paul prays for the Ephesian Christians that, v16 ‘he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.’
How do you most need strengthening in your inner being at this time?
Still your heart before God and ask the Holy Spirit to come and minister into that area.
You may feel it appropriate to ask someone else to pray with you in this.
Isaiah 61:3 ‘a planting of the Lord, for the display of his splendour’
Steve talked about being planted by the Lord, and being replanted, and illustrated with Basil being repotted to allow him to grow and spread his roots.
How conscious are you of being planted by the Lord?
What does that mean to you to know that the Lord has planted you into Jesus?
In Isaiah 54 God’s people are encouraged to burst forth into song, inspite of their situations. They are encouraged to enlarge their space and to spread out to the right and to the left.
Steve encouraged us to think about spreading our roots out right and left and down deep into Christ.
What would it mean for you to spread out your roots in Christ and to go deeper into him?
Isaiah 54:4 speaks of shame, fear, disgrace and humiliation which can hold us back, like being in too small a pot, to allow us to grow to be the people we were created to be.
Are there any areas in your life which stop you from spreading your roots?
Hear the words of the LORD, Do not be afraid, do not be ashamed.
If you need to, come and confess anything you need to to God and receive his grace, cleansing and forgiveness.
If past hurts cause these feelings, share with someone you trust and have them stand with you in prayer for God’s restoring power to breathe life so you can spread your roots in Jesus and receive everything he has for you.
Isaiah 61:3 ‘oaks of righteousness for the display of his splendour’
Pray to display the splendour of God in your life this week.
